about the food

the food on this blog will all be nutritious, including raw options, re-makes of traditional favourites and some of my own creations. they won't include oil or refined sugar, and limit salt and caffeine. the meals will focus around easy-to-digest foods like leafy greens, non-starchy vegetables, legumes, fruits and moderate amounts of nuts and seeds. i in no way believe that starchy vegetables and wholegrains and higher fat diets are unhealthy, they just don't work for me. there will be options for modifications to include these if they're something that you enjoy.
why hello there
i've been interested in veganism since 2014 but couldn't make the transition until 2016 due to health conditions. i've always loved animals and was told i would be the one to tie myself to a boat to protest for marine wildlife. after struggling with my health for most of my life; i became very intrigued with natural medicine and nutrition. i got interested in raw food cuisine because honestly, i like a challenge. i'm learning more about raw cuisine, molecular gastronomy and balanced nutrition, all of which i'm hoping to implement in my recipes here.
it is my belief that a plant-based, wholefoods diet focusing around legumes, wholegrains, seasonal fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds is our best chance at battling lifestyle related disease, and personally helped me in my relationship with food. i am not an expert in nutrition - yet. i am studying naturopathy and nutrition and hope that as my knowledge improves, i can further help people of their road to health.
